ACADEMIC STAFF

Biochemistry is a branch of science that deals with various molecules and their chemical reactions in living cells and organisms. In the Department of Biochemistry, information including the basic building blocks of the living organism and the structures of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids, enzymes, minerals and vitamins necessary for the maintenance of life, and the roles of biomolecules in the functioning of metabolism are given.

Biochemistry knowledge is given to the students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine first in the "Biochemistry I" course, then the basic subjects are completed with the "Biochemistry II" course. In the applications of these courses, chemical recognition reactions, qualitative and quantitative analyzes based on the introduction of basic molecules are performed. During the internship period, with the "Clinical Biochemistry" courses in the Farm Animal Medicine and Breeding Group and the Small Animal Medicine Group, information is given about the biochemical basis of some diseases, the making and interpretation of biochemical analyzes that can be used in the diagnosis of diseases.

In the department, studies investigating the relationships between biochemical polymorphism, yield, different feeding practices and some diseases and biochemical parameters, experimental deficiency and excess studies related to minerals, leptin and fattening performance and reproductive development, and cancer cell biology and metabolism studies are carried out. There are 5 professors, 1 associate professor, 1 assistant professor and 1 research assistant in our department.
