Project 1 (BUÜ)
Project Topic: Development of Cooling Plates for Battery Packs in Electric Vehicles, Structural Analysis of Battery Carrier Systems, and Optimization for Crash Safety
The strategic objectives of the research program include the production of battery packs for electric vehicles using advanced technological materials and new manufacturing technologies in the design and prototype manufacturing process. The goal is to reduce the weight of the vehicle, thereby increasing its range. Additionally, the program aims to reduce costs by producing strategically important battery pack components (such as battery carriers, frames, covers, etc.) using different manufacturing methods.
The design and prototype production of cooling plates for the battery pack, which are of strategic importance for the thermal performance of the battery, will also be part of the project. The objective is to create high added value and develop the ability to design and produce for the global market, thus enhancing the capability to produce such strategic components in the country. Furthermore, one of the strategic goals of the project is to develop technical capabilities in the region for designing and manufacturing high-tech products, including research and development activities for battery packs for electric vehicles.
In the BATEG excellence center established within APYÖK, the cooling plate design and prototype manufacturing will be carried out using alternative manufacturing methods. In the structural part of the project, simulations and design validations will be conducted for the battery carrier system, which aims to be lightweight, safe, and mechanically compliant, under conditions of strength, vibration, and impact. Battery module/pack testing facilities will be provided at BUÜ.
