The university is actively collaborating with private industry and public institutions for the development of automotive and sub-systems, as well as conducting joint R&D activities. BUÜ researchers are primarily focused on scientific and R&D studies related to Electric and Hybrid vehicles, Battery technologies, Automotive components, Additive manufacturing, Weight reduction, New generation automotive materials, joining technologies, powertrain, design, and manufacturing processes.
Within the “Battery Technologies Research and Development Platform for Electric Vehicles (BATEG)” TÜBİTAK 1004 Excellence Center Project, 8 organizations are involved. The main goal of the platform is to design innovative battery packages and prototype manufacturing for domestic electric vehicles, primarily for the Bursa and Regional Industry organizations.
In the project, alongside Coşkunöz Kalıp Ar-Ge (APYK-1), Coşkunöz Metal Form (APYK-6), and ASAŞ R&D Center (APYK-2), which have proven expertise and knowledge in the automotive industry, TOBB University of Economics and Technology (Advanced Engineering Studies Application and Research Center, APYK-3) and Eskişehir Technical University (Advanced Technologies Application and Research Center, APYK-4), which contribute significantly to project experiences and academic processes, TÜBİTAK RUTE (Rail Transportation Technologies Institute) (APYK-5), with the most advanced infrastructure and research human resources in the field of battery cells, modules, and packages in our country, are also involved.
Process Design, Analysis, and Verification
In line with customer expectations, we design the processes that best meet the part quality targets and verify them through virtual analysis. We carry out geometry improvement works such as External Surface Analysis / “Zebra Light”, springback compensation, etc. in collaboration with production teams until the mold delivery.
Coşkunöz R&D Center continues its activities with the mission of maximizing added value to product and business processes by analyzing the needs of Coşkunöz Holding and its customers, which operate in 5 sectors and 12 companies, on-site and together. Coşkunöz R&D Center runs projects to develop products and technologies with the holding companies in all sectors where Coşkunöz Holding operates. The areas of activity of the center are as follows:

Eskişehir Technical University
Advanced Technologies Application and Research Center (ITAM)
ITAM has been active since 2018 with the goal of conducting research on advanced technologies, developing innovative technologies, and creating high added value through its collaborations, research infrastructure, and educational activities, in line with the scientific and technological objectives of Eskişehir Technical University. ITAM aims to establish an advanced-level research infrastructure and currently operates 6 laboratories: Functional Nanoporous Materials Laboratory, Composite Laboratory, Optoelectronics Laboratory, Sensor Laboratory, Seismic Isolator Test Laboratory, Technical Textiles and Combustion Laboratory. With 14 academic staff and 6 administrative/auxiliary staff, ITAM continues its activities, and many undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers in engineering and natural sciences participate in project-based work. ITAM’s composite laboratory has advanced devices and infrastructure for microstructure characterization, thermal, mechanical, and combustion testing. Many projects have been successfully completed in ITAM’s composite laboratory using innovative composite material techniques such as tape placement, pultrusion, filament winding, and autoclaving. The experiences gained from these projects will guide the goal of developing a battery casing by combining innovative composite material techniques in different combinations. ITAM’s Technical Textiles and Combustion Laboratory, one of the country’s significant R&D infrastructures, focuses on developing flame retardant materials, performing flame retardant applications, and investigating the combustion behavior of materials. In this lab, work will be carried out to develop a unique combustion test procedure for electric vehicle batteries and materials according to national and international standards. Additionally, applications and analyses will be conducted to give both low conductivity and flame-retardant properties to the composite components of the battery carrier system.
