General Information
The Tourism and Travel Services Program is designed to train qualified professionals who can provide comprehensive services required by tourists throughout their entire holiday experience in today’s increasingly diversified and expanding tourism industry.
The program offers a two-year education following high school graduation. Students are required to complete a 30-working-day internship in relevant fields. All compulsory courses in the curriculum must be successfully taken and passed. In addition to compulsory courses, students are also required to take elective courses in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th semesters. To graduate, students must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00/4.00.
Program Objectives
The aim of the Tourism and Travel Services Program is to train qualified human resources who can take part in the service production processes of the tourism and travel sector, assist in management, or establish and operate their own businesses. Through both theoretical and practical education, the program equips students with the fundamental skills of travel services, entrepreneurial qualities, effective communication skills, and the ability to use computer programs relevant to the field.
Career Opportunities for Graduates
Graduates of this program acquire the skills necessary to perform agency operations, reservations, and ticketing procedures. They can find employment particularly in travel agencies, tour operators, airline companies, large passenger cruise ships, and airports. Qualified graduates may also work in travel agencies (Groups A, B, and C as specified in Law No. 1618), fair, congress, and event organizations, as well as in related departments of transportation enterprises (ticketing, ground services, etc.).
Vertical Transfer to Undergraduate Programs
Graduates who wish to pursue further education may transfer directly to the Open Education Faculty without an entrance exam. In addition, depending on their scores and quotas in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) administered by ÖSYM, graduates may transfer to various four-year undergraduate programs.
