General Information
The Accounting and Tax Practices Program, which began admitting students in the 2008–2009 academic year, has a duration of four semesters. In its first year, the program started with a quota of 60 students (30 in regular education and 30 in evening education). During the program, students are required to complete a 30-working-day internship in fields related to their area of study. In the 3rd and 4th semesters, students also have the opportunity to gain professional experience by working two full days a week in a workplace.
Throughout the four semesters, students must complete a total of 84 credits. In the 3rd and 4th semesters, they take 8-credit applied workplace training courses. To progress to the 3rd semester, students must achieve a minimum GPA of 1.80/4.00, and to graduate, they must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00/4.00.
Program Objectives
The aim of the Accounting and Tax Practices Program is to train professionals who can meet the needs of accounting and finance departments in accounting and consultancy firms as well as in commercial enterprises. The program seeks to provide students with fundamental knowledge of accounting, the ability to understand accounting functions and their significance, follow relevant legislation, prepare accounting records, analyze financial structures, and utilize financial data in decision-making processes.
Title and Career Opportunities for Graduates
Graduates of the program are awarded the title of “Accounting Professional Staff.” They may work in accounting and financial consultancy offices, foreign trade and finance institutions, and accounting departments of commercial enterprises. They may also be employed in the finance-related units of various organizations.
By combining theoretical knowledge with practice, graduates equipped with accounting legislation and skills in computerized accounting are able to find employment both in the public and private sectors. Career opportunities include working in accounting offices, accounting departments of enterprises, various units of the Ministry of Finance, particularly in tax offices, as well as in workplaces developing accounting software and systems.
Vertical Transfer to Undergraduate Programs
Graduates of the associate degree program may transfer, through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM, to the following undergraduate programs:
