Minor Program

MINOR BRANCH PROGRAM and APPLICATION CONDITIONS
- It is a program that allows students enrolled in a diploma program to obtain a document (minor certificate) that does not replace a diploma, by taking a limited number of courses on a specific subject within the scope of another diploma program within the same higher education institution, provided that they meet the stipulated conditions.
- Successful students who meet the conditions specified in the "Directive on Transfer Between Bursa Uludağ University Associate and Undergraduate Programs, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer" are given a minor field license certificate in order to ensure that they are informed in a sub-field of their interest.
- In programs that provide annual education, no quota is given for the fourth and sixth semesters. 
- It consists of a minimum of 20 ECTS and a maximum of 30 ECTS for associate degree programs, and a minimum of 40 ECTS and a maximum of 60 ECTS for undergraduate programs. 
- Students with a GPA of at least 2.50 out of 4.00 in the major program can apply to the minor program.
- In order for the student to apply for a minor program, he/she must have passed all the courses he/she is responsible for in the major diploma program by the semester in which he/she applies.
- Students enrolled in associate degree programs cannot apply to minor programs offered in undergraduate programs.
- The student can apply to the minor program at the beginning of the third semester of the major associate degree program at the earliest, and at the beginning of the third semester of the undergraduate program at the earliest and at the beginning of the sixth semester at the latest.
- In applications to diploma programs that accept students through the Special Aptitude Exam, success in the Aptitude Exam is required.
- In applications to programs that provide education partially or completely in a foreign language and apply a compulsory foreign language preparatory class, the student must have passed the preparatory class in the relevant foreign language or have received the required scores from the exams specified in the Foreign Language Education and Examination Regulation of Bursa Uludağ University School of Foreign Languages.
- Students' admission to the Minor Program is carried out with the approval of the unit's board of directors, upon the recommendation of the relevant department, according to the GPA ranking to be established within the determined quotas.

 
APPLICATION OF THE MINOR BRANCH PROGRAM
- The courses and credits that the student must take in the minor program are determined with the approval of the senate upon the recommendation of the relevant departments and unit boards, taking into account the Higher Education Field Competencies determined by the Council of Higher Education. Courses cannot be taken other than lesson plans approved by the Senate, and if taken, they will be cancelled.
- Minor Program students can benefit from summer education.
- When deemed necessary by the department running the Minor Program, the student may be given internships and similar practices.
- Minor Program students cannot benefit from additional exam rights.

 
SUCCESS, GRADUATION and DE-REGISTRATION
- Minor Program does not affect the student's success in the Major Program in which he/she is registered.
- A separate transcript document is issued for the Minor Program.
- In order to continue the minor program, the student's GPA in the major program must be at least 2.50 out of 4.  A student who cannot fulfill this requirement will be deregistered from the Minor Program.
- A Minor Certificate is given to the student who graduates from the Major Program and completes the Minor Program with a GPA of at least 2.00. With this certificate, the rights and authorities granted for the associate/bachelor's degree cannot be used.
- A student who is dismissed from the Minor Program cannot re-register for the same Minor Program.
- Success ranking is not applied for Minor Program students.
- Students who have the right to graduate from the Major Program but cannot complete the Minor Program are given a maximum of two semesters in programs that provide semester education and one year in programs that provide annual education in the academic year following graduation by the unit board of directors of the unit in which they are studying the minor program, in order to complete the program. The student who cannot complete the Minor Program at the end of the additional period will be dismissed from the Minor Program. During the additional period used, the student continues to pay the student contribution/tuition fee determined for the department where the Minor Program is carried out, taking into account the total time spent in the associate/undergraduate programs.
- A student who does not take courses in a minor program for two consecutive semesters in programs that provide semester education, or for one year in programs that provide annual education, will be deregistered from this program.
- Courses that students who are deregistered from the minor program are successful in but are not included in the major program are included in the transcript and diploma supplement, without being included in the GPA, with the approval of the relevant unit executive board.
