Double Major Program

DOUBLE MAJOR PROGRAM and APPLICATION CONDITIONS

- It is a program that allows students who meet the success requirement and other conditions to take courses simultaneously from two diploma programs of the same higher education institution and receive two separate diplomas.
- Successful undergraduate students who fulfill the conditions specified in the "Bursa Uludağ University Directive on Transfer Between Associate and Undergraduate Programs, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer" are awarded a Double Major Undergraduate Diploma in the second major. Double Major Program consists of 120 ECTS in associate degree programs and 240 ECTS in undergraduate programs.
- Double Major quotas and registration dates determined at the beginning of each academic year are announced on the BUU website. Students can apply to the Double Major Program under the following conditions:
- The student can apply to the second major diploma program at the beginning of the third semester at the earliest in the major undergraduate diploma program, at the beginning of the fifth semester in four-year programs, at the beginning of the seventh semester in five-year programs, at the beginning of the ninth semester in six-year programs, at the beginning of the second semester at the earliest in the major associate degree diploma program, at the beginning of the third semester at the latest.
- Students whose GPA in the major diploma program at the time of application is at least 2.72 out of 4.00 and who are in the top 20% of the relevant class of the major diploma program can apply to the double major diploma program.
 - Among the students whose GPA in the major diploma program is at least 2.72 out of 4.00, but who are not in the top 20% of the relevant class of the major diploma program in terms of success ranking, those who have a score not less than the base score of the relevant year of the double major program can also apply to the double major program.
- In order for the student to apply for a double major diploma program, he/she must have succeeded in all the courses he/she is responsible for in the major diploma program by the semester in which he/she applies.
- Students enrolled in diploma programs determined by the Council of Higher Education may, upon request, pursue a double major in programs determined by the Council of Higher Education. The restrictions in paragraphs a, b, c and ç do not apply to double major education and training among these programs.
- In applications to programs that provide education partially or completely in a foreign language and apply a compulsory foreign language preparatory class, the student must have passed the preparatory class in the relevant foreign language or have received the required scores from the exams specified in the Foreign Language Education and Examination Regulation of Bursa Uludağ University School of Foreign Languages.
- In applications to diploma programs that accept students through the Special Aptitude Exam, success in the Aptitude Exam is required.
- The student must not have received any disciplinary punishment until the semester in which he/she applies.
- Students' admission to the Double Major Program is carried out with the approval of the unit's board of directors, upon the recommendation of the relevant department, according to the GPA ranking to be established within the determined quotas.
- A student whose registration is canceled from the Double Major Program cannot re-apply and register to the same program within the scope of double major education.

 
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DOUBLE MAJOR PROGRAM
- If deemed necessary by the department that offers the Double Major Program, the student may be given internships and similar practices.
- Double major students can benefit from summer education.
- Primary education students are not allowed to take courses from evening education, and evening education students are not allowed to take courses from primary education.  However, in cases where there is a course conflict, the student is allowed to take courses from the primary or evening education with the approval of the Second Major Program Advisor.
- A separate transcript is issued for the Double Major Program.
- The student can benefit from the additional examination rights specified in the Bursa Uludağ University Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulations in the Second Major Program.
- Students enrolled in a Double Major Program can have courses with the same credits and contents that are common between the programs count towards their major/second major program.
- The education period of students who have the right to graduate from the major diploma program but cannot complete the second major diploma program is the maximum period specified in paragraph (c) of Article 44 of Law No. 2547, starting from the academic year in which they registered for the second major diploma program.

 
SUCCESS and GRADUATION
- In order for the student registered in the Double Major Program to complete the program, he/she must have succeeded in all the courses for which he/she is responsible in the Second Major Curriculum, which corresponds to at least 240 ECTS courses.
- The student who graduates from the Major Program in which he/she is registered and completes the Second Major Program with a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 is given the diploma of the Second Major Undergraduate Program.
- A student who does not have the right to graduate from the Major Program in which he/she is registered will not be considered a graduate of the Second Major Program and will not be given a bachelor's degree.
- Double Major students are included in the success rankings in the Second Major Program.

 
REGISTRATION AND LEAVING
- The student may withdraw his registration from the Second Major Program at his own request.
- Students who were dismissed from the Second Major Program because they could not meet the graduation requirements, but who meet the Minor Branch Success and Graduation conditions of this directive, are given a Minor Program Certificate upon request during the education period in the major program.
- During the entire double major education, the student's overall grade point average in the major program may drop to 2.50 out of 4.00, for a special purpose. A student whose GPA in the major program falls below 2.72 out of 4.00 for the second time will be deregistered from the second major diploma program.
- A student who does not renew his registration for two consecutive semesters in programs that provide semester education, or for one year in programs that provide annual education, will be deregistered from the second major diploma program.
- Students who have the right to graduate from the major diploma program but cannot complete the second major diploma program will be dismissed from the University if they do not meet the conditions specified in the relevant articles of Bursa Uludağ University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulation.
- Courses that are successful in the second major program of students whose registration is canceled from the double major program, but are not included in the major program, are included in the transcript and diploma supplement without being included in the GPA, with the approval of the relevant unit executive board.
