Double Major Program

DOUBLE MAJOR PROGRAM and APPLICATION CONDITIONS
-It is a program that allows students who meet the success requirement and other conditions to take courses simultaneously from two diploma programs of the same higher education institution and receive two separate diplomas.
-Successful undergraduate students who fulfill the conditions specified in the "Uludağ University Directive on the Principles of Transfer Between Associate and Undergraduate Programs, Double Major and Minor Programs" are given a Double Major Undergraduate Diploma in the second major. The Second Major Program consists of at least 60 ECTS. If deemed necessary by the department that offers the Second Major Program, the student may be given internships and similar practices.
-The unit that will open the Double Major Program announces to the students the quotas determined at the beginning of each academic year, the course schedule of the Second Major Program and the registration dates.
-The student can apply for the second major diploma program at the beginning of the third semester of the major diploma program at the earliest, at the beginning of the fifth semester for four-year programs, at the beginning of the seventh semester for five-year programs, and at the beginning of the ninth semester for six-year programs at the latest.
-A student cannot enroll in more than one Second Major Program at the same time. However, he/she can enroll in the Second Major Program and another Minor Undergraduate Program at the same time.
-In applications to departments/programs that provide 30% or more education in a foreign language and apply a compulsory foreign language preparatory class, the student must have passed the relevant foreign language preparatory class or received the required scores from the exams specified in the Foreign Language Education and Examination Regulations of Bursa Uludağ University School of Foreign Languages. In applications to departments/programs that are outside the specified departments/programs but apply a compulsory foreign language preparatory class, the student is required to have attended the foreign language preparatory class.
-In applications to diploma programs that accept students through the Special Aptitude Exam, success in the aptitude test is required.
-Students' admission to the Second Major Program is made with the approval of the unit's Board of Directors, upon the recommendation of the relevant department where that program is carried out.
-During the application, the student must have taken and successfully completed all courses in the major program up to the semester for which he/she has applied, his/her overall academic grade point average must be at least 2.72, and he/she must be among the top 20% in terms of success ranking in the relevant class of the major program. Students whose overall grade point average in the major diploma program is at least 2.72 out of 4 and who are not in the top 20% of the relevant class of the major diploma program and who have a score not less than the ÖSYS/YKS base score of the relevant year of the program to be double majored, can also apply to the double major program.
-In order for students registered in the Double Major Program to complete the Second Major Program, they must be successful in the courses given by the unit that opens the Second Major Program, with a minimum of 60 ECTS, excluding courses with the same credits and contents common to both programs.


 
SUCCESS AND GRADUATION
-The student who graduates from the Major Program in which he/she is registered and completes the Second Major Program with a GPA of at least 2.72 is given the diploma of the Second Major Undergraduate Program.
-A student who does not have the right to graduate from the Major Program in which he/she is registered will not be considered a graduate of the Second Major Program and will not be given an undergraduate diploma.
-Double Major students are not included in the success rankings in the Second Major Program.
-Students who have the right to graduate from the Major Program but cannot complete the Second Major Program are given a maximum of two semesters of additional time in the semesters following the Major graduation by the Faculty Executive Board of the unit where the Second Major is studied, to complete the program. During the additional periods used, the student continues to pay the student contribution/tuition fee determined for the Second Major Program, taking into account the total time spent in the undergraduate programs.
-A student whose registration is canceled from the Second Major Program cannot re-register for the same Second Major Program.

REGISTRATION AND LEAVING
-The student may withdraw his registration from the Second Major Program at his own request.
-The student who disenrolls from the Second Major Program with a petition before graduating from the Second Major Program will be given a Minor Undergraduate Program Certificate if he/she has fulfilled all the conditions for completing the Minor Undergraduate Program of the same department, if stated in this petition. Applications made later will not be taken into consideration.
-During the double major education, the student's GPA in the major may decrease to 2.50 out of 4, only once. The student whose GPA falls below 2.50 out of 4 for the second time will be deregistered from the second major diploma program.
-A student who does not register for courses in the Second Major Program for two consecutive semesters will be deregistered from the Second Major Program.
-A student who cannot complete the Second Major Program at the end of the two additional semesters given after graduating from the Major Program will be deregistered from the Second Major Program.
-The courses that students whose registration is withdrawn from the double major program were successful in the second major program and were not accepted in the major program are included in the major transcript and diploma supplement without being included in the major GPA.
