FOREIGN TRADE PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

The primary objective of the foreign trade program is to meet the need for skilled, specialized, and experienced labor in the field of foreign trade, which is the lifeblood of the Turkish economy. Foreign trade departments are constantly evolving and promising units within businesses. The fact that the personnel employed in these units are specialized and trained is a factor that facilitates the internationalization of companies.

Since the economy of Yenisehir District is based on agriculture, its trade has also developed in relation to agriculture. Due to the presence of peppers, the district's primary vegetable crop, and its proximity to regions producing other fresh vegetables and fruits, companies operating in the district export 40-50 types of fresh vegetables and fruits annually. These companies have also established packaging facilities in the district, beginning to transform it into a center for fresh fruit and vegetable exports. With the scheduled start of cargo flights at Yenisehir Airport, Yenisehir is expected to become a center for agricultural product exports. In this context, it is worth emphasizing that Bursa is also an industrial city, with its industry heavily focused on import and export activities.

Our country, within the framework of its Customs Union agreement with the EU and its efforts to join the Union, has introduced various rules to ensure that products comply with human health and safety standards as a result of its efforts to harmonize with Union laws. The EU applies these standards, in particular, as a guiding factor in foreign trade. The requirement that products exported to the EU meet these standards, as well as rules stipulating that agricultural producers can only export through the Union, necessitate awareness among producers and exporters and require cooperation with universities, particularly through foreign trade programs.

Vocational colleges aim to train qualified personnel for foreign trade departments. By establishing application protocols with businesses, the goal is to enable students to gain professional experience, train them with a strong educational background, high performance, and knowledge, and contribute to the economy.

Graduates can work in businesses engaged in foreign trade, in the foreign exchange departments of banks, alongside customs brokers, and in shipping companies. If they are successful in the exams, they can obtain a B Certificate and work as Customs Consultant Assistants.
