Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Performing Arts undergraduate Year III students staged the play entitled “The Gaudy Epic of a Luxurious Life” (an adaptation of Lüküs Hayat) on Wednesday, May 15, 2025, at the Prof. Dr. M. Mete Cengiz Cultural Center. The play was prepared as part of their "Play Project" course.

The play, directed and adapted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mine Artu Mutlugün, a faculty member in the BUÜ Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Performing Arts, received full marks from the audience.

The performance was created as a collage of two works: “Lüküs Hayat” (Luxurious Life), written by Cemal Reşit Rey and Ekrem Reşit Rey and first staged in 1933, and “Keşanlı Ali Destanı” (The Epic of Ali of Keşan), written by Haldun Taner and staged in 1964. Described as an epic mannerist experiment, the play presented phenomena such as consumer frenzy and social media addiction to the audience with a humorous approach.

At the end of the play, Prof. Ali Sait Liman, Dean of the BUÜ Faculty of Fine Arts and Head of the Department of Performing Arts, thanked the audience in the hall, congratulated everyone involved in the staging of the work, and presented flowers to the director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mine Artu Mutlugün, in memory of the day.
