The department offers a four-year undergraduate program consisting of two main art branches: Acting and Dramatic Writing & Dramaturgy. Educational activities are carried out at the Mudanya Campus.
As of 2025, the department’s academic staff includes 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 2 assistant professors, and 1 research assistant. Additionally, a sufficient number of teaching staff appointed under Articles 40/a and 31 of Law No. 2547 also deliver courses within the department.
Performing arts, particularly theatre, is a multidimensional, collective art form that combines various art disciplines. It is a dynamic art extending from actors and writers to directors, dramaturgs, designers, and audiences. Therefore, theatre education demands a vibrant, rich, multidimensional, long-term discipline closely connected to scientific knowledge. Contemporary artistic identity can only be achieved through a comprehensive training process centered on the human being, integrating acting, playwriting, directing, theory, design, and other performing arts, with both national and universal perspectives.
Our Department of Performing Arts, consisting of the Acting and Dramatic Writing & Dramaturgy branches, has developed its curriculum in line with this vision: a unique, innovative, science-integrated, contemporary theatre approach where the national and universal intersect. The mission of our department is to train theatre actors and writers who understand the importance of reaching from national to universal levels, who value original expression, embrace collective work, are aware of theatre’s close relationship with life, the world, society, and humanity, and are open to developing their worldview, creative power, and intellectual and emotional capacity, all while being actively engaged within society.
