What is Erasmus Study Mobility?
Erasmus Study Mobility is the process where a student enrolled in a higher education institution completes a part of their studies at a partner university abroad through an inter-institutional agreement. The duration of the activity can range from 2 to 12 months (minimum 60 and maximum 360 calendar days), depending on the academic level, and must be completed within the same academic year. The academic levels include associate degree, undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs.
Conditions for Erasmus Study Mobility:
General conditions for Erasmus Study Mobility:
- GPA Requirement: For associate degree and undergraduate students, a minimum GPA of 2.20; for master's and doctoral students, a minimum GPA of 2.50.
- Language Proficiency: A B2 level (at least 75/100 points) in the language required by the university the student wishes to attend.
- Full-time Student Status: A full-time student is one who has not yet completed the required coursework/credits for their diploma/degree and is expected to take 30 ECTS credits in one semester. Students must have at least 30 ECTS credits in the semester they go abroad, and these courses must either be courses they haven't taken before or ones they failed.
Who Can Benefit from Erasmus Study Mobility?
- Students in preparatory classes, first-year students, and graduates cannot benefit from study mobility.
- In theory, all students in the subsequent years (including transfer students) can benefit from Erasmus Study Mobility if they meet the necessary conditions.
- If the GPA requirement is met, students taking supplementary courses are not excluded from mobility.
- Some faculties or departments may not send students in certain classes or semesters. You can get more information from your faculty/department coordinators about such situations.
- Students who transfer to our university through DGS and have full-time student status, with at least 30 ECTS course load, can benefit from the program if selected.
- Students in a double major program can apply for mobility from only one major in the same application period.
- Graduate (master’s and doctoral) students, including those in thesis periods, can benefit from the program.
- Non-thesis master's students can also benefit from the program.
How Long Does Erasmus Study Mobility Last?
The duration of the activity can range from 2 to 12 months (minimum 60 and maximum 360 calendar days) for each academic level (Associate Degree, Undergraduate, Master's, and Doctorate). The total duration of Erasmus Study or Internship mobility, either with or without a grant, can be a maximum of 12 months for each academic level. Periods exceeding 12 months are not considered under the Erasmus program.
- For Medical and Veterinary Faculty students, the maximum duration is 24 months.
- BUÜ (Uludağ University) sends students for Erasmus Study Mobility with a grant for only one semester. The only exception to this rule is if the department at BUÜ or the partner institution offers a full-year education program.
- BUÜ Erasmus Mobility students cannot extend their period. However, they can apply again during the Erasmus application process and, if selected, go to the same or another university in the following term.
