Applications Open for the 2027–2028 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program

The Fulbright Türkiye Commission is now accepting applications for the 2027–2028 Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program.

The FLTA Program provides an exceptional opportunity for early-career language educators to spend nine months at a U.S. university, where they will teach Turkish language courses while also enrolling in at least two academic courses each semester. The program is designed to foster professional development, intercultural exchange, and mutual understanding between Türkiye and the United States.

Eligibility

Applications are invited from:

  • Senior undergraduate students (expected to graduate by June 2027) and graduates of English Language Teaching (ELT) programs;
  • Senior undergraduate students and graduates of English Language and Literature, American Culture and Literature, English Linguistics, English Translation and Interpreting, and English Translation Studies programs, provided they hold either a Pedagogical Formation Certificate or a master’s degree in one of the eligible fields;
  • Graduates of Turkish Language Teaching, Turkish Language and Literature, Linguistics, Journalism, or Media Studies, provided they hold a Pedagogical Formation Certificate (or a relevant master’s degree) and have at least two years of teaching experience.

Information Webinars

A series of online information sessions will be held throughout the application period to introduce the FLTA Program and answer applicants' questions. The first webinar took place on July 14, 2026. Upcoming sessions can be accessed through the Fulbright Türkiye Commission's Events Calendar.
