Program Purpose: The Interior Design Program is designed to reflect the individual's personality and explores the aesthetic, functional, and psychological aspects of interior design. The emergence of diverse lifestyles, the constant advancement of technological knowledge, and changing social values have created new needs. Today's and future designers are expected to possess a design approach that respects society's social and cultural rights, cultural heritage, and nature. They are expected to create designs that consider the relationship between interior spaces and the building and urban fabric. They are also expected to repurpose buildings that have lost their intended function and create original designs for the interiors of historical monuments worthy of preservation. In today's interior design field, where quality and competition are intense and consumer needs are evolving, acquiring professional competencies is crucial. Ultimately, the program aims to cultivate interior designers who blend rapidly evolving technology with creativity, possessing professional competencies and skills, and are highly sought after in the business world, with the title of technician.
Course Type: The program operates over two years and four semesters. During these semesters, both hand-drawing and computer-aided drawing courses are offered. Students who successfully complete the courses in the Interior Design program and a 30-day internship will earn the title of Interior Design Technician.
Employment Opportunities: Research conducted throughout Turkey indicates that one of the biggest problems facing industrial organizations, particularly those producing interiors, is the lack of technical personnel capable of creating original designs. This program aims to meet the need for a designer workforce in businesses and offices. Graduates can work in the design departments of furniture and decoration workshops, as project personnel in restoration firms, as drafting personnel or designers in architecture and engineering offices, and as managers, administrative assistants, officers, and controllers in model-making offices. Graduates of the program will find employment opportunities in public institutions (such as the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, the General Directorate of Foundations, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism) and in the private sector, including architecture, interior architecture, and design offices. They also have the opportunity to work in environmental bureaus, municipalities, and restoration offices.
DGS Opportunities: Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible for vertical transfer through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). These programs include:
• Interior Architecture
• Interior Architecture and Environmental Design
