The “Solar Power Plant Technical Inspection and Observation Tour,” organized by Dr. Ömer ERİŞ, Head of the Department of Electrical and Energy Engineering at our college, and Dr. Seval BULUT ERİŞ, a faculty member of the department, was held with the participation of first- and second-year students from the department.

As part of the technical field trip, the students inspected the rooftop solar power plant (SPP) installed on the roof of the İnegöl Covered Livestock Market, which meets a portion of the İnegöl Municipality’s electricity needs. During the visit, which served both educational and technical purposes, the students had the opportunity to observe solar energy systems in a real-world application setting.

During the field inspection, students gained hands-on knowledge about solar panels, inverter systems, protection and control equipment, energy monitoring systems, grid connection, energy production processes, and operation and maintenance activities.

As part of the tour, Semih KANSU, Deputy Director of the Public Works Department at the İnegöl Municipality, provided information to the students about the solar power plant project and explained the municipality’s efforts in the field of renewable energy and its investments in energy efficiency.

Ali DEMİRHAN, owner of ADA Elektrik the company responsible for the technical implementation of the solar power plant project along with electrical and electronic engineers Furkan VURGUN and Ramazan KIZIL, provided detailed information on the system’s technical structure, the equipment used, field applications, operational processes, and energy generation systems. By answering the students’ questions, they were given the opportunity to examine the processes involved in the design, installation, commissioning, and operation of solar power generation systems through a real world project.

The students had the opportunity to relate the theoretical and technical knowledge they had previously gained at a seminar titled “Electricity Generation from Solar Energy: Solar Power Plant Projects and Real World Field Applications” conducted at our college by ADA Elektrik officials-to practical field applications. In this way, they enhanced their professional knowledge and awareness regarding renewable energy systems and electricity generation technologies.
