Symposium on the Reigns of Sultan Ibrahim and Sultan Mehmed IV and Bursa



As part of the Osman Gazi Commemoration and the Conquest of Bursa Celebrations held on April 4–5, 2025, a symposium titled The Reigns of Sultan Ibrahim and Sultan Mehmed IV and Bursa was organized. Although its origins date back to 1995, the symposium has been held regularly since 2005, and faculty members and graduate students from our department have contributed to it as well.

 

The opening speech and the chairmanship of the opening session were carried out by our university’s vice rector and faculty member of our department, Prof. Dr. Cafer ÇİFTÇİ. Our PhD student Mustafa Enes KUL, along with our MA students Ali SERAJ AZARİ, Melike KARABULUT, and Ebrar ÇİFTÇİ, played active roles and made significant contributions to the organization of the symposium.
 

A total of 26 papers were presented at the symposium, which featured academic presentations by faculty members from various universities as well as independent researchers. Within this scope:
 

Prof. Dr. Zeynep DÖRTOK ABACI (together with Prof. Dr. Turan AÇIK) contributed with the paper titled ), “Muktederin Gözü: Osmanlı İktidarına Aşağıdan Bir Bakış
 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer ALKAN GÜNAY presented “17. Yüzyıl Sonlarında Bursa Kazasında Tevzî Vergi Uygulamaları
 

Asst. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Ziya KARAASLAN delivered “Târîh-i Lârî’nin Sultan IV. Mehmed Dönemine Ait Bir Tercüme Nüshası
 

PhD student Mukaddes EFE BAŞARIR presented a paper titled ), “Osmanlı Saray Halkının Gıda Tüketiminde Bursa’dan Talepleri (1640-1648 Yılları Arası)”
