Our Department's TÜBİTAK 1001 Project Success

Project Title: ANALYSIS OF THE SOCIAL, CULTURAL, ECONOMIC, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSEQUENCES OF THE TRANSFORMATION IN THE AGRICULTURAL STRUCTURE OF RURAL BURSA IN THE HISTORICAL PROCESS (1907-2023).

Project Aim: The main objective of the project is to analyze the transformation of the agricultural structure in rural Bursa between 1907 and 2023, along with its social, cultural, economic, and environmental consequences, using an interdisciplinary approach. Additionally, it aims to preserve the agricultural heritage of the region and increase public awareness on this subject by establishing an "Agricultural History Exhibition" with the materials collected.

Method: A mixed-methods research model, combining qualitative and quantitative data, will be used in the project.

  • Data Collection: The primary data sources consist of Ottoman and Republic archives, previously unexamined documents from the Hamidiye Agricultural School, Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data, 300 oral history interviews, 11 focus group interviews, and spatial analyses with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

  • Analysis: Quantitative data will be statistically analyzed using SPSS, while qualitative data will be thematically analyzed using the Maxqda program.
