Aktopraklık Höyük Field Trip

On April 10, 2025, as part of the course TRH3088 Anatolian Urban History in the undergraduate program of Uludağ University's Department of History, a field trip was organized to the Aktopraklık Höyük Archaeopark Open-Air Museum located in the Nilüfer district of Bursa. This guided visit enabled students to observe archaeological sites firsthand and to evaluate the topics covered in the course through concrete examples.

During the trip, students were provided with detailed information about the archaeological excavations carried out at Aktopraklık Höyük and the findings of these studies. At the mound, which dates back approximately 8,500 years, students examined architectural remains, daily life objects, and other archaeological materials from different periods on site. They also visited reconstruction structures that recreate Neolithic village life, gaining insights into the social and cultural fabric of the period.

This field trip contributed to the development of students’ historical thinking and analytical skills by allowing them to directly observe archaeological data. It also provided them with a deeper perspective on the historical development of Anatolian cities.
