An Academic Journey: A Conversation on Turkish Music and Violin Performance

As part of the Career Planning course conducted within the Department of Music Education, an event titled “An Academic Journey: A Conversation on Turkish Music and Violin Performance” was held on December 1, 2025.

Our guest this week, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Gürel, shared with our students the path from his student years to his academic career, his work in the fields of Turkish music and violin performance, his experiences representing Turkish music in international settings, and his current research interests.

Throughout the conversation, a productive Q&A session took place on topics such as the first steps of an academic career, study habits for music education students, the impact of digitalization on music research, resource suggestions in the field of Turkish music, and guidance for young musicians.
