Under the 2214-A Foreign Doctoral Research Fellowship Program conducted by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey's Scientific Personnel Support Programs Presidency (BİDEB), Muhammed Gazihan Çelik, a doctoral student at the Faculty of Architecture at Bursa Uludağ University and a TÜBİTAK 2244 Industrial Doctorate Program scholarship recipient, has been awarded support in the first call for applications for 2025.
The program aims to increase the scientific productivity of doctoral researchers, strengthen international collaborations, and ensure that they acquire innovative methods and approaches in their fields. In this context, Gazihan Çelik will be supported to conduct research abroad for 12 months.
Gazihan Çelik, who is pursuing his doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Figen Kıvılcım Çorakbaş, a faculty member at the Faculty of Architecture at Bursa Uludağ University, will conduct part of his doctoral thesis research in Italy at the “Istituto di Scienze del Patrimonio Culturale (Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences)” within the “Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche” (CNR-ISPC) in Naples. The research process will be carried out under the supervision of Dr. Costanza Miliani, Director of CNR-ISPC.
The study aims to examine the relationship between architectural ceramics and space through examples from Italy, evaluating holistic conservation approaches that address tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the context of urban identity, local production culture, and economic sustainability.
