OUR DEPARTMENT'S FACULTY MEMBERS ON THE LIST OF THE WORLD'S MOST INFLUENTIAL SCIENTISTS

As Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in the upcoming academic term, the number of internationally successful faculty members continues to grow. Twenty BUÜ academics have succeeded in securing a place on the list of the world's best.

The "World Top 2% Scientists List" was identified using a composite indicator scientific impact index, which includes variables such as the number of citations, h-index, hm-index, and self-citation ratio, led by scientists from Stanford University in the United States (USA) and including scientists from the Netherlands. The list, which examined the studies conducted in 2023 and includes 223,152 scientists from around the world, features 1,518 scientists from Turkey and 20 academics from BUÜ. In the ranking based on the total scientific work throughout their academic careers, 14 BUÜ faculty members are among the 217,097 scientists listed. In the previous year’s announcement, only 11 BUÜ academics were included in the list.

The list published this year includes the names of 1,518 academics from Turkey. From BUÜ, 20 scientists have been featured in the list of the best. NUMBER OF ACADEMICS IN THE ALL-TIME RANKINGS REACHED 14

The number of BUÜ scientists featured in the all-time best academics ranking, which takes into account the work done throughout their entire academic careers, has reached 14 this year. The academics included in the list are: Prof. Dr. Ali Rıza Yıldız, Prof. Dr. Ömer Kaynaklı, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Betül Sultan Yıldız, Prof. Dr. Veysel Turan Yılmaz (left Bursa Uludağ University in 2022), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senem Kamiloğlu Beştepe, Prof. Dr. Tolga Çavas, Prof. Dr. İsmail Filya, Prof. Dr. İlknur Alibaş, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Özgür Yaylı, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karahan, Prof. Dr. Emrullah Yaşar, Prof. Dr. Adem Doğangün, Prof. Dr. Necmettin Kaya, and Prof. Dr. Ferruh Öztürk.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz congratulated all the academics who were included in the list of scientists. Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz emphasized the great satisfaction they felt with the increase in the number of Turkish scientists and BUÜ academics featured in the list this year compared to the previous year. He said, “We are extremely happy with the progress our University and our Country have shown this year compared to the previous year. We congratulate all our professors who made it to the list and wish them continued success. We believe that our professors will also be role models for our young academics.”

Researchers from Elsevier and Stanford University have announced the list of academics who are in the top 2% of scientists in the world. In this ranking, which was created by taking into account the works done by scientists throughout their careers, 4 Faculty Members from our department were included in the list.
