National Women's and Children's Rights Symposium Held at Bursa Uludağ University
Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, under the coordination of Bursa Adoption Association (BUREV), in cooperation with Bursa Uludağ University Women's and Family Studies Application and Research Center (BUKAM) and Private Kindergartens Association (ÖZADER), and hosted by Bursa Uludağ University, the National Women's and Children's Rights Symposium was held on May 28, 2025 with great participation and high interest.
The program was attended by Bursa Deputy Governor Mr. Mustafa Güney, Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Mr. Faruk Uysal, Bursa Uludağ University Women's and Family Studies Application and Research Center Director Prof. Dr. Nimet Haşıl Korkmaz, BUREV Association President and Project Manager Sinem Uçar Denge, KADEM Bursa Representative Betül Demir, ÖZADER Bursa Representative Serkan Yavuz, BUREV Honorary Member and Symposium Bursa Coordinator Sedanur Yavuz, BPW İzmir Business and Professional Women Association Representative, İzmir Symposium Coordinator Pınar Yeşiltay Sevim and many academicians, teachers, school representatives, Bursa Uludağ University students and civil society representatives attended.
A Strong Right and Conscience Meeting in the Year of the Family
With the declaration of 2025 as the “Year of the Family”, the symposium aimed to contribute to the studies aimed at strengthening the family structure and increasing social awareness; academicians, public institutions, civil society organizations, teachers, students and volunteers came together to create a rights-based meeting ground.
In the sessions; topics such as children's rights, gender equality, transformation in the family structure, early childhood policies and non-violent communication were addressed from an interdisciplinary perspective.
Participation Making a Difference from 25 Preschool Institutions: Children's Rights Project Exhibition
The Children's Rights Project Exhibition, which was brought to life within the scope of the symposium, was held with the participation of 25 preschool institutions.
The exhibition, which came to life with the big sentences of the little participants, both touched and made us think with the children's drawings, writings and creative works.
Children who internalized their rights and expressed them freely were one of the most impressive voices of the symposium.
Freedom Comes with Art: Violin Recital and Romani Dance Taken to the Stage
Elif Aydın, PhD Student of Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Education, Department of Music Education and the University Folk Dance Group, who took the stage at the symposium, added cultural diversity, rhythm and the spirit of freedom to the symposium with Romani dances.
The show turned into a stage where differences were accepted as richness and art met with rights and received great applause from the participants.
“Change with a Sentence” Social Awareness Campaign Launched
With the “Change with a Sentence” social awareness campaign launched within the scope of the symposium, participants voiced their voices with a sentence that came from the heart regarding women’s and children’s rights.
Believing that social change will begin with small but meaningful steps, this call invites everyone to make a difference with a sentence.
The National Women’s and Children’s Rights Symposium is not an event limited to just one day; it is an important step in the vision of a permanent social transformation.
