The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) Programme, which will support multi-partner international projects on water management, food systems and the agriculture-food value chain in the Mediterranean region, has opened its 2025 calls for applications.
Projects to be supported under the PRIMA Programme are divided into two sections.

Project proposals received under Section 1 will be supported by funds allocated to the PRIMA Programme from the Horizon Europe Programme. Applications under Section 1 of the PRIMA Programme should be submitted to PRIMA only. Section 1 - Call Topics for 2025:
Topic 1.1.1-2025 (IA): Scaling up nature-based solutions for sustainable water management to combat extreme weather events in the Mediterranean.
Topic 1.2.1-2025 (IA): Strengthening Sustainable Agricultural Systems in Mediterranean Wetlands for Conservation and Coexistence.
Topic 1.3.1-2025 (IA): Transforming Mediterranean Food Systems: Empowering Consumers for Sustainable Nutrition.

Project proposals submitted under Section 2 will be supported by funds committed to the PRIMA Programme by national funding organizations. Under Section 2, in addition to the joint application to PRIMA, research teams participating in project consortia must also apply to their own national funding organizations. For international application conditions and detailed information, please visit https://prima-med.org/what-we-do/sections/section-2/. Teams from Turkey participating in the consortia will submit their national applications to TÜBİTAK via https://uidb-pbs.tubitak.gov.tr/. Project proposals submitted from our country under this call will be supported under the TÜBİTAK 1071 Support Programme for Increasing Capacity to Benefit from International Research Funds and Participation in International R&D Collaborations. As applications that do not comply with the application rules will be returned without being evaluated, it is essential to thoroughly review the national application rules prior to submission.

Topic 2.1.1-2025 (RIA): Strengthening the Policy Development Process in the Mediterranean Region through Impact-Focused Water Footprint and Virtual Water Concepts.
Topic 2.2.1-2025 (RIA): Dissemination of Agroecology Practices at Farm Level in the Mediterranean.
Topic 2.3.1-2025 (RIA): Approaches to Transitioning to Plant-Based Alternative Protein Products in the Mediterranean Region.
