Participation of the EPDAD Accreditation Team in the PACE Jean Monnet Module

The course conducted within the scope of the Jean Monnet Module PACE project, funded by the European Union, was held this week with the participation of the EPDAD accreditation team, who were visiting the university to evaluate the accreditation process of the Mathematics Department.

During the course, the educational policies of the European Union and the ways in which the fundamental values of the Union are reflected in educational processes were discussed. In addition, the values emphasized within the framework of the Türkiye Century Maarif Model, which has recently been introduced in Türkiye, were examined. Students evaluated the similarities and differences between European Union values and the national educational approach.

In the practical part of the course, students were asked to carry out a mathematical problem-posing activity inspired by the value themes presented in illustrated children’s books. Through this activity, it was aimed to enable students to experience both value-based educational approaches and interdisciplinary teaching methods.

Observed by the EPDAD accreditation team, this course was considered an important example of the PACE project’s efforts to increase teacher candidates’ awareness of European Union values, contemporary educational policies, and value-based teaching practices.
