The Faculty of Engineering at Bursa Uludağ University hosted one of the most recent examples of university-industry collaboration. The seminar, titled "EU Project Ecosystem: University-Industry Collaboration & HighScape Project Experience," was held at the Automotive Engineering Department Conference Hall with the participation of Prof. Dr. Ali Rıza YILDIZ, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Asst. Prof. Dr. Mert Ali ÖZEL, Vice Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Dr. Gökhan SEVİLGEN, Head of the Automotive Engineering Department; along with faculty members and students. S. Osman Sümer, Powertrain Simulations Technical Specialist at TOFAŞ Türk Otomobil Fabrikası A.Ş., attended the seminar as the guest speaker, sharing R&D processes in the automotive sector and his extensive experience in European Union projects with the participants.
The first session of the seminar focused on EU Research Programs and the Horizon Europe ecosystem. Participants were thoroughly informed about project formulation, establishing international consortiums, application and execution protocols, the collaborative roles of academia and industry in mutual R&D processes, technology transfer, and the core dynamics within the innovation ecosystem.
During the technical phase of the event, technologies shaping the future of automotive engineering were detailed through a comprehensive case study on the HighScape Project (GA: 101056824). The prominent topics highlighted in the presentation included: next-generation e-PWT (electric powertrain) architecture and designs, in-wheel system integration and its application challenges, WBG (Wide Bandgap) based power electronics systems, and Predictive Thermal Management applications, which hold critical importance for battery and system health.
The event concluded under the hospitality of Prof. Dr. Gökhan SEVİLGEN, Head of the Automotive Engineering Department and BATEG Coordinator, with a technical presentation of the BATEG Laboratory's infrastructure and outputs, followed by evaluations of potential future collaboration opportunities.
