An information meeting will be held regarding the current practices and procedures concerning access to the labour market for foreign students and foreign academic staff.
The meeting will be held by the Directorate General of International Labour Force of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at 14:00, at the Prof. Dr. Mete Cengiz Cultural Centre, Special Operations Police Officer İlyas Kaygusuz Hall.
As is known, in accordance with Law No. 6735 on International Labour Force, procedures and transactions concerning the issuance of work permits and work permit exemptions to foreign nationals are carried out by the Ministry within the framework of the provisions of the aforementioned Law and the relevant legislation. Within this scope, applications submitted by foreign nationals wishing to work in Türkiye are assessed, and work permits or work permit exemptions are issued to those whose applications are deemed eligible.
Furthermore, the work permit assessment criteria were updated on 1 October 2024 in line with sectoral needs and demands received from stakeholders, incorporating different criteria depending on the job, occupation, and sector in which the foreign national will work. The updated criteria were subsequently published on the official website of the Directorate General. In addition, through an amendment introduced on 3 August 2026, various facilitations were provided in the work permit assessment criteria for students pursuing higher education in Türkiye.
In this regard, the Ministry plans to hold an information meeting at your university in order to provide information on the current practices and procedures concerning the access of foreign students and foreign academic staff to the labour market.
