Lege Nobiscum: Dissenting Voices in Jurisprudence

Lege Nobiscum: Dissenting Voices in Jurisprudence will resume its new cycle of meetings as of 1 December 2025. The series continues under the co-editorship of Dr. Yahya Berkol Gülgeç (Bursa Uludağ University) and Dr. Triantafyllos Gkouvas (University of Murcia). The meetings will take place on Mondays, fortnightly at 20:00 (GMT + 3), online, and in English.

What is Lege Nobiscum?
Lege Nobiscum — read with us — is not a lecture series but a circle of collective reading. Drawing on the project’s philosophical ethos, our method treats reading itself as a form of jurisprudential inquiry, where interpretation becomes a shared act of thought rather than a solitary exercise. We read paragraph by paragraph, in real time, allowing dissenting voices — canonical, forgotten, or emerging — to speak anew.
This approach reflects our commitment to understanding law as a living discourse, where dissent is not opposition but renewal, an opening of concepts to fresh meanings and possibilities.

Format of the Meetings
As in the previous year’s series , each session centres on a short curated selection (approx. 5 pages) from texts in legal philosophy. These passages are read aloud and discussed collectively, guided by moderators. No prior preparation is required; the method is one of hermeneutic simultaneity, inviting all participants — regardless of background — to engage directly with the text as it unfolds.

Participation
Those interested in joining the new cycle are kindly asked to send an email to:

All students, scholars, and readers of jurisprudence are welcome to participate in this non-hierarchical, dialogical, and philosophically pluralistic circle.
