As part of the “Science Gatherings in Villages” event series organized in collaboration with Osmangazi Municipality and the Science and Amateur Astronomy Club, a special event themed “World Day of Light” was held in Gündoğdu Village. Research Assistant H. Azize MALAY from our department participated in the event as an invited speaker.
Held on May 24, 2025, the event featured a presentation and engaging activities titled "Science Illuminated by Light: Photonics," emphasizing the vital connection between light and fields such as science, technology, and industry. Furthermore, the issue of light pollution caused by excessive and unconscious use of artificial light was addressed with a focus on raising public awareness.
The day concluded with a night sky observation session in Gündoğdu, which offers a panoramic view of the city of Bursa. Participants experienced an unforgettable evening filled with scientific exploration and inspiration.
We extend our sincere thanks to all organizers and contributors—particularly Cem Özkan, President of the Science and Amateur Astronomy Club—as well as to the esteemed participants and Osmangazi Municipality for their invaluable support.
