As is well known, pursuant to the International Labour Force Law No. 6735, all procedures concerning work permits and work permit exemptions granted to foreign nationals are carried out by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security within the framework of the said Law and the relevant legislation. Accordingly, applications submitted by foreign nationals wishing to work in Türkiye are evaluated, and work permits or work permit exemptions are issued to those deemed eligible.
Furthermore, in line with sectoral needs and demands from the field, the work permit evaluation criteria were revised on 1 October 2024 to include differentiated criteria according to the job, occupation and sector in which the foreign national is to be employed, and were published on the official website of the General Directorate of International Labour Force of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. In addition, an amendment introduced on 3 August 2026 has provided various facilitations in the work permit evaluation criteria for students pursuing higher education in Türkiye.
An information meeting on current practices regarding the access of international students and foreign academic staff to the labour market will be held by the General Directorate of International Labour Force of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security on Tuesday, 20 October 2026 at 14:00 at the Prof. Dr. Mete Cengiz Cultural Centre, Special Operations Police Officer İlyas Kaygusuz Hall.
