The 2026 update of the list known publicly as the "World's Top 2% Scientists"—prepared in collaboration between Stanford University and Elsevier—has been released. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Arpacı and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murtaza Cicioğlu, faculty members of our department, have earned a place on the list in the "Single-Year Impact" category, which is based on scientific impact during 2025.
In the Single-Year Impact category, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Arpacı ranked 8,892nd globally, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murtaza Cicioğlu ranked 218,963rd. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Arpacı also appears on the "Career-Long Impact" list—which is based on scientific impact achieved over the course of a career—and ranks second among researchers from our university included in both categories.
The list is compiled using a composite score (c-score) that combines standardized indicators—such as the h-index, the hm-index (adjusted for co-authorship), and citation impact based on authorship position—derived from Scopus data; it encompasses researchers in the top 2% tier of impact within each scientific field.
This achievement once again demonstrates the research quality and international visibility of our department. We congratulate our faculty members and wish them continued success in their work.
