Our academician's project was among the best 11 in Turkey

The artificial intelligence project prepared by Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) Faculty of Engineering Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Bilgin has been accepted by TÜBİTAK.

The projects accepted within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1711 – Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem Call have been announced. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Bilgin, an academician from the Department of Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering, was also included in the list where only 11 projects were supported in Turkey.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Bilgin stated that significant gains will be achieved in the field of artificial intelligence thanks to the project in which Beka-Mak R&D Center and Communication Computer R&D Center will take part jointly; “The project aims to make metal cutting machines, which perform an important function in the machine industry, smart by using Large Language Models, one of the most up-to-date technologies of today. By ensuring that the questions asked by the user via voice or a keyboard are understood by the system and that appropriate workflows and instructions are automatically created, it will provide information to operators for the continuation of the system both in case of malfunctions and in cases where the operator using the relevant machine gets stuck and cannot produce a solution.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Bilgin added that 3 students from the Natural Language Research Group (ULU NLP), established in the Computer Engineering Department, will be included in the project as scholarship holders and that they aim to bring new members to the research ecosystem.
