ULUDAĞ THEMATIC COFFEE DAYS "BIOMATERIALS-1"

The third event of the "Uludağ Thematic Coffee Days" series, organized by the R&D Coordination Office of Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ), was held under the theme "Biomaterials-1".

The event took place at the Güler-Osman Köseoğlu Conference Hall in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Dean’s Building and was attended by BUÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan Kırıştıoğlu, BUÜ R&D Coordinator Prof. Dr. Esra Karaca, Chairperson of Akka Mold Plastic Injection Nazan Akıncı, OPRA Strategy Founder Yarenur Türe Özkan, and many experts, industry representatives, and stakeholders.

"AN IMPORTANT TOPIC THAT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR COUNTRY AND UNIVERSITY"

In his opening remarks, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan Kırıştıoğlu expressed his satisfaction with the biomaterials theme, emphasizing the value of openly discussing and understanding this topic for the university. He stated that the ability to produce such materials in Türkiye and further develop this field would provide significant benefits. Drawing a parallel with the breakthroughs in the defense industry, he highlighted the potential for a similar leap in biomaterials, which could open major opportunities for Türkiye. "There is a huge market, and while we are not yet where we want to be, we can make rapid progress. Our technical infrastructure is ready," said Kırıştıoğlu. He concluded by expressing his hope that the event would yield results beneficial to both the country and the university, and thanked all participants.

PREPARING THE GROUND FOR COLLABORATIVE WORK

BUÜ R&D Coordinator Prof. Dr. Esra Karaca stated that they plan to continue organizing the Uludağ Thematic Coffee Days at regular intervals starting from January. Following previous themes of artificial intelligence and green transformation–sustainability, the third event focused on biomaterials. Due to the high number of academics working in this field, she announced that they plan to continue with this theme in future events as well. Karaca emphasized that the main goal of the event is to create a space where academics can come together during coffee breaks to discuss potential collaborative areas and to provide a platform for external stakeholders and guests to develop joint project ideas with researchers. She noted with satisfaction that, based on feedback from surveys conducted during the first two events, they have achieved this goal. She concluded by thanking everyone who contributed to the event.
