The 13th “Meeting of Successful Academicians with the Rector” Organized by Our Coordination Office Was Held

A New Record in BUÜ’s Scientific Output
The “Meeting of Successful Academicians with the Rector,” organized by the Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) R&D Coordination Office in order to strengthen the university’s identity as a research university and to encourage scientific productivity, was held for the 13th time. During the ceremony held in the new Rectorate building, the university’s rising success over the past year and its future goals were highlighted.
“Our Capacity for High-Quality Publications Is Increasing Exponentially”
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan Kırıştıoğlu stated that the main philosophy behind the event is to raise awareness about increasing the number of high-quality publications and research projects at the university. Emphasizing that the process has already begun to yield positive results, Kırıştıoğlu noted that the monthly number of Q1 publications, which was around 15–20 a year ago, has now reached approximately 70. He underlined that the 2025 data are significantly more promising than those of 2024 in terms of research university indicators. However, he also reminded participants that competing institutions are progressing rapidly and that stagnation would mean falling behind.
The Vice Rector also pointed out that there has been a significant revitalization in research projects. In particular, the demand for ADEP project applications has exceeded twice the allocated budget, which symbolizes the competitive transformation taking place in the university’s research ecosystem.
“We Achieved a New Record with 72 Q1 Publications”
Our R&D Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Esra Karaca, announced in her speech that this tradition—initiated to honor academic achievements—has entered a new phase as of 2026. Karaca stated that publication data are now being monitored through Scopus, noting that this system change has increased transparency and inclusiveness.
Recalling that the previous year ended with 60 Q1 publications per month, Karaca announced that as of January 2026 the number reached 72 Q1 publications, marking a new record. Expressing her satisfaction with the increasing number of successful academicians, Karaca emphasized that such meetings are an important source of motivation, as they ensure that academic efforts are recognized and rewarded by the university’s senior administration. She concluded her remarks by thanking all researchers for their valuable contributions.
The program concluded with the presentation of certificates by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz.
