The Department of Traditional Turkish Arts, which was established in 2021 within the Faculty of Fine Arts of Bursa Uludağ University, includes “Illumination-Miniature and Marbling” and “Islamic Calligraphy” Major Art Branches. In addition to this The Department is planned as five main branches of art: Binding, Tile and Tile Repair, and Preservation and Repair of Portable Cultural Assets. The department, which accepts students through the Special Talent Examination, started its teaching activities by admitting 20 students to the Illumination-Miniature and Marbling Major Art Branch undergraduate program in the 2022-2023 academic year.
The mission of the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts is to gain the ability to see and perceive by taking art formation; who internalizes the main principles of traditional arts and can produce works with his own attitude in the classical way; Able to bring contemporary and original approaches to art based on the classical; To train versatile artists who can think interdisciplinary and develop their designs in this direction by combining the achievements of basic art education with the aesthetic features and principles of traditional arts.
Knowing the philosophical basis on which traditional arts are based and able to reflect it on their work; It is also among the goals of the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts to train artists with a broad vision who can synthesize the Turkish culture that they were nurtured with today's opportunities and demands, and who aim to represent our traditional arts at the highest points through postgraduate studies.
