TECHNOFEST SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS IN THE FIELD OF BIOTECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION

Within the scope of TEKNOFEST, 89 Projects were selected as the finalist team among 3592 applications within the scope of 2022 Biotechnology Innovation Competition. Two different teams consisting of our institute's students made it to the finals in this category.

The "ARGENOTYPE" team was selected as a finalist in the project category with their work titled "Gene Panel for the Determination of Subtypes in Breast Cancer" and had the opportunity to share their oral and poster presentations in Trabzon.

Within the scope of the project, a gene panel was developed to distinguish the subtypes that can shed light on the creation of treatment protocols in UNMK patients by evaluating the expression data of the genes determined for Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Prof. Dr. Gülşah ÇEÇENER (BUU Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Biology) which advises to the "ARGENOTYPE" team included Graduate Student Ebrucan BULUT as the team captain and graduate Students; Rümeysa Fatma BALABAN, Nuseybe HURİYET and PhD Student Havva TEZCAN ÜNLÜ.

The "MedOmiks" team, which participated in Teknofest from the idea category, developed the project idea titled "Personalized Milk Research for Translational Applications in Cancer Management".  The  "MedOmiks" team, supervised by Assoc. Dr. Dilek Pirim (Department of Translational Medicine and Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics Lecturer) included Department of Translational Medicine PhD student and team captain Res. See. Berkcan DOĞAN, Graduate School of Sciences Molecular Biology and Genetics graduate students Hasan Faruk NİŞ, İrem Nur GÖZÜDOK and undergraduate student Fatih Atilla BAĞCI.
