About us

Bursa Uludag University, Department of Fine Arts Education, Art Education Programme is one of our country's most established educational institutions in this field, with many educators and artists serving since 1982. The programme consists of "General Culture", "Field Knowledge" and "Professional Knowledge of Teaching" courses. Field Courses: these are courses that train visual arts teachers on the basis of scientific and artistic fields that are directly related to the field of art education. 

The scope and content of the curriculum in the Art Education programme aim to provide freedom of thought and initiative in a contemporary and democratic educational environment; independent thinking and decision-making as part of artistic creation processes, not limited to creative potential, but to acquire creative thinking skills and the effective use of innovative ideas and approaches in artistic processes. Taking into account the interdisciplinary content of the field of Visual Arts, with a holistic approach, the programme content has been prepared by the Turkish Higher Education Institution to provide multiple perspectives in the context of Education-Science-Art. As a requirement for the qualification of Visual Arts Teacher, our curriculum is not only limited to the field of Fine Arts but is also supported by Educational Science and General Culture field courses. In addition, our curriculum is enriched by a large number of elective courses in various disciplines offered specifically for our department.

Students who successfully complete their undergraduate studies are qualified as "Visual Arts Teachers" and work in primary and secondary schools.

Our department started education in 1982 and still continues its education with 250 students at the undergraduate level and 24 students at the postgraduate level.

There are 2 professors, 2 associate professors, 8 lecturers, 1 doctoral lecturer and 3 doctoral research assistants working in our programme.
Our building is located opposite the Faculty of Education Block B on the Gorukle Campus of Bursa Uludag University.
Our building, which has a total closed area of 6,572 square metres, is a 3-storey building including the basement and has 21 academic offices, 1 head of the programme office, 1 secretariat, 1 meeting room, 1 janitor's room, 15 painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphics, textile, photography and original printing workshops, 3 theoretical classrooms, 1 conference hall, 2 exhibition halls and library facilities.

Since 2006, within the framework of the European Union's Erasmus+ student and lecturer exchange programme, there has been an exchange of students and lecturers between our department and the higher education institutions in Poland. The Department also provides the opportunity for student exchange between the painting and drawing departments of universities in Türkiye within the framework of The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Farabi student exchange programme.
