On November 1, 1924, the Music Teacher School established as the first music teacher training school in the history of the Republic in Ankara, celebrated its 100th anniversary on Friday, November 1, 2024, with an enthusiastic event in the Department of Music Education. The event began with a meaningful presentation by Prof. İsmail Bozkaya, a retired faculty member of the Department of Music Education.

Prof. Bozkaya discussed the founding process, history, and significance of the Musiki Muallim Mektebi, touching on the courses offered at the school, the artist-teachers who worked there, and the valuable artists trained at the institution. In his speech, he also addressed the changing structure of institutions that have been training music teachers from then until today, and emphasized the spiritual value of naming the building of the Department of Music Education at our university "Musiki Muallim Mektebi-1924."

The program continued with a performance of contemporary Turkish music pieces presented by the department’s students. The Department of Music Education Choir, along with all the participants, concluded the event by performing the Uludağ University Anthem and the Teacher Anthem under the direction of Assoc. Dr. Gülnihal Gül and one of the founding faculty members of the department, Rabia Yılmam. The closing speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Rasim Erol Demirbatır, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education and Head of the Department of Fine Arts Education, who presented a plaque to Prof. İsmail Bozkaya for his contributions to this meaningful and historic day. At the end of the event, Assoc. Dr. Gülnihal Gül, Head of the Department of Music Education, also presented certificates of appreciation to all the faculty members and students who contributed to the event. This meaningful and emotional special day was met with great interest and enthusiasm by the participants, which included faculty members, retired faculty members, students, graduates of the department, and music teachers.
