Environmental Engineering Graduates have higher opportunities for employment

Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) Engineering Faculty Environmental Engineering Department carried out an important research that includes the employment status, work places, duties, strengths and weaknesses of  students graduated between 2015-2018.

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Güray Salihoğlu, Prof. Dr. Fatma Esen and Prof. Dr. Feza Karaer the study was carried out with interviews with the graduates by Hatice Nur Soylu, Merve Deniz, Davut Güleç, İlker Erünsal and Mert Öncel (4th year students of the Department of Environmental Engineering)

88 PERCENT OF THE GRADUATES STARTED WORK WITHIN A  YEAR

According to the results of the research, it was determined that 71 percent of the graduates between 2015-2018 were working, 71 percent of the employees worked in their profession, and 82 percent of the employees love their profession. BUÜ's Environmental Engineering Department found that 84 percent of its graduates started their own business, 10 percent in the public sector, and 6 percent in the private sector. In the study, it was emphasized that the rate of establishing your own business increases as the year of graduation decreases. In addition, it was determined that 88 percent of the graduates started to work in less than 1 year.

In the research, many subheadings such as the sub-fields of the graduates, whether they have administrative duties, whether they have postgraduate education, the analysis methods and programs they apply in their professional lives, whether they make product-process-device design, the vocational courses they take, their strengths and weaknesses, and their recommendations were discussed. As a result of the interviews with the employers who employ environmental engineers, the strengths and weaknesses of the employers were determined.
