Project Exhibitions from High School Students

The 49th High School Students Research Project Exhibition organized by TUBITAK Scientific People Support Program Presidency has started at Uludağ University.

Uludag University Mete Cengiz Cultural Center will exhibit a total of 100 projects from 12 branches for three days. The best of the projects that will be evaluated individually throughout the exhibition will be awarded during a ceremony.

WE CAN NOT COMPETE WITH OUR RIVALS IN TODAY'S TECHNOLOGY

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, UU Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Ulcay stated that they are very happy to be hosting such a nice event as a university. Rector Yusuf Ulcay emphasized that this activity should also be held for secondary and primary education students next year. "Now the coding age has gone down to the elementary school level. Today we have to bring the children of the countries we race with our children to the same level. It is not possible to catch up with today's technology using yesterday's technology. We must educate our children with tomorrow's technologies. The projects are not only in the fields of mathematics, biology, physics and chemistry. While we are directing our children to projects in our schools, we must emphasize that projects need to be done in social sciences. Most projects governing the society come out of social sciences."

CHILDREN SHOULD BE GIVEN PROJECT EDUCATION IN ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION LEVELS

Ulcay emphasized that all the projects that the students will exhibit are of great valueand he said: "I would like to really thank the administrators of TÜBİTAK and the staff of our university for this event that helps children gain this sight. It is unfortunately not possible to catch this level in high school or college. We have to start from the first stage. So if we are expecting success from our university students, we hmust educate them when they are younger. We are trying to act with the 3 rd Generation University model. It means a university that generates ideas and then generates income from those ideas. Unfortunately, there are not many universities that adopt this as a principle. High school students here today are lucky. I hope that the institutions and persons who provide education in high school and secondary level will approach this subject with more sensitivity. I really care about the activity here.”

Provincial Director of National Education Sabahattin Dülger said that it is a great pleasure for them that thiis event is organized in Bursa. Wishing TÜBİTAK Science Projects Exhibition all the good, Dülger thanked everybody and underlined that there are very important projects in the exhibition. Eskişehir Provincial Director of National Education Necmi Özen stated that one of the activities he was most excited about was science projects events. He noted that they expected much from young people and that youngs met their expectations with their works.
