One of the academicians of Bursa Uludağ University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, Lecturer. Erdem Özütürk made a new breakthrough with the method he developed in measuring the junction temperature, which is vital for LED technology.
WE WILL REDUCE MEASUREMENT SPEED TO MICROSECONDS
An important innovation has been made in LED technology, which is frequently used in areas of life such as televisions, instrument panels and lighting systems, with the invention of Lecturer Dr. Erdem Özütürk, an academician of Bursa Uludağ University. Özütürk said “Many features of LED change with junction temperature. Therefore, measurement of junction temperature is vital for LED technology. With the method I developed, pulsed high currents are flowed from the LED with a suitable measuring circuit and its voltage value proportional to the light intensity is measured via a photodetector. Using the different voltages measured with the formula I found, the junction temperature is calculated for the amplitude and duration of different currents. Some methods used complex measuring instruments such as spectroscopes for this measurement. In my method, measurements are made with an oscilloscope in a small time frame like microseconds.” said.
